Although Komatsu started in the mining industry while establishing itself in construction applications worldwide, and it still holds its every growing market share in that field, it has moved up technologically and provides a full line of innovative dozers.
Along the way, Komatsu has introduced its SIGMADOZER blade, which boasts 15% more productivity. It sports a super slant dozer design, creating the best of the best in grading dozers, primarily due to visibility.
The KOMTRAX remote monitoring system is free on all Komatsu bulldozers. The main feature is that they have 3D GPS systems built right into all of their units, meaning that no masts or cables are needed as sensors are built in. This allows these Intelligent Machine Control dozers to dig and grade with smooth precision and to do it quickly.
When Komatsu’s super slant nose small dozers hit the market, Komatsu took a place in line only second to the Apple i-Phone in a competition of international designers. The main change was in moving the driver forward by sending the coolers to the rear and achieving a rebalance, assisting in fine grading. This, with the aforementioned 3D grade control yielded faster and more accurate grading. The “i” machines go even further, building intelligence via the Trimble and Topcon systems for grade control.
The following Kubota dozers run in the 0-150 horsepower range: D37EXi-2; D37PXi-23; D37EX-23; D37PX-23; D37EX-24; D37PX-24; D39EXi-23; D39PXi-23; D39EXi-24; D39PXi-24; D39EX-23; D39PX-23; D39EX-24; D39PX-24; D51EXi-22; and D51PXi-22.
Mid-size dozers need to be able to do it all, having to be tractors for optimum production on down (or up) to being fine graders. With the Sigma blades or the blades that are six-way mounted inside, Komatsu bulldozers are equal to the task, particularly when coupled with the GPS-grade controls.
In the 151-260 horsepower range, the dozers are: D61EXi-23; D61PXi-23; D61EX-23; D61PX-23; D61EXi-24; D61PXi-24; D61EX-24; D61PX-24; D65EX-17; D65PX-17; D65WX-17; D65EXi-18; D65PXi-18; D65EX-18; D65PX-18; D65WX-18; D65EX-17 WH; D65PX-17 WH; and D65WX-17 WH.
In addition to features already covered, Komatsu dozers’ K-bogie undercarriage makes the ride easier, keeping the track in contact with the ground and for transferring power through the sprocket for ripping, digging and pushing. Remote control is now available on the D155AX-8.
Found in the 151-260 horsepower range are the aforementioned D155AX-8 and: D85EX-15; D85PX-15; D85EX-15WH; D85EXi-18; D85PXi; D85EX-18; D85PX-18; D155AX-7; D155AX-7 WH; D275AX; and D275AX-5WH.a
Finally, sometimes Komatsu mining dozers need to handle the stressors connected to today’s mining while maintaining production levels. Those with 500+ horsepower are the D375A-6 and the 475A-5.
