BHS Inc, a leading supplier of forklift battery handling equipment and warehouse solutions, has developed a mobile cleaning system for forklift batteries. The BHS Battery Wash Cabinet Kit (aka BWC-1-M-KIT) facilitates on-site battery washes; this saves the time and expenses involved with transporting batteries to and from various maintenance facilities.
Melissa Bowen of BHS Marketing said: “Many electric forklift users rely on dealers or maintenance services to wash their batteries. Traditionally, that required costly pickup and delivery programs. The BWC Kit removes the whole logistical problem from the equation.”
The BHS Battery Wash Cabinet Kit is made up of three units: a clean-water tank featuring a wash pump and auxiliary hand-spray wand, a 330-gallon mobile tank for dirty water, and a Battery Wash Cabinet.
The new technology enables service providers to wash forklift batteries at customer facilities and remove contaminated wastewater upon completion. As Bowen explained:
“One of the biggest hurdles to washing your own forklift batteries is dealing with the runoff. It’s considered hazardous waste. You can’t just pour it down the drain, so we needed to give our customers a way to handle all that wastewater in a safe and responsible way.”
Here’s how it works: users load a truck with the full clean water tank, the wash cabinet and an empty wastewater tank. Once on-site they connect both tanks to the cabinet using cam-and-groove connections. The kit then goes to work, automatically washing batteries while gathering dirty water in the post-wash tank. Afterwards, users load up and take away the whole kit, later treating the wastewater for reuse or disposal.
Established in 1979 and based in St. Louis, Missouri, BHS Inc. delivers dependable, flexible and affordable forklift battery handling and warehouse equipment solutions to customers around the globe. It is the world’s largest manufacturer of forklift battery changers and other battery handling equipment.
