The new Bobcat 1.7 t E17Z Zero Tail Swing (ZTS) canopy model completes Bobcat’s 1-2 t range of compact excavators.
The new E17Z sports the highest ZTS performance level ever with the use of Bobcat’s Zero House Swing (ZHS) design. The structure front and up top is fully is safe by making sure the corners in the front are in the swing circle’s range. This is when the E17Zs tracks are completely expanded thereby allowing for a 320° free rotation when the swing gets near walls and other things in the way. This happens without lessening operator function or comfort.
The E17Z’s operator is king (or queen) in this setting as this machine was made to be flexible based on the operator’s needs. This includes controls and pedals that are easy to get to and to operate. It has a large awning and in and out exit capability that gives the driver plenty of space to get in and out of the seat. This is also helped along with the design that allows the hand controls by the operator’s left hand to be lifted out of the way. This concept of getting things out of the way when needed is carried through by the fact that the pedals can be folded up to make more room.
With the E17Z’s standard operating weight at 1 749 kg, and a maximum digging depth of 2 249 mm., coupled with stability and a transport weight of approximately 1.6t, this machine is perfect for use in small areas. Plus, the other components in the current 1-2 t range such as: high level diagnostics; an undercarriage that retracts; and tie-down points in the upper structure are stock features on the E17Z.
Loading trucks is easy with the E17Z because of the dump height which has a reach that makes it unnecessary change positions when digging. It is at ground level.
Top end stability is reached when the retractable undercarriage is fully opened. Also, when employing the long dozer blade, which is optional, front end stability is much better. It also helps with dust panning. The operator can utilize complete breakout forces and the machine can deliver. Easy-to-operate tough blade extensions are standard on the E17Z.
Along with the E17Z being perfectly designed for picking up and positioning heavy things safely, it can be also fit with with an option in the form of a certified “object handling device,” which has boom and arm load holding valves, and hooking and overload warning devices.
