Japanese construction manufacturer Komatsu has introduced a new line of hydraulic rock breakers that the company says are compatible with its full offering of excavators. With operating weights spanning from 65 kg to 5589 kg, the Komatsu breakers work with mini (0.7 – 7.5 tonnes), medium sized (7.5 – 20 tonnes) and large (20 – 90 tonnes) excavators.
Customers have a choice between a two-speed option and a fully variable speed version. The latter version is programmed to automatically modify frequency to ensure maximum productivity in a variety of working conditions.
Barry Millar, Komatsu NZ’s National Customer Support Manager, described the breakers as a perfect companion to the company’s celebrated line of excavators.
“For many years, Komatsu has been recognised as offering the industry’s best range of excavators, in terms of performance, productivity, reliability, durability and cost of ownership,” Millar said. “Now we are delighted to be able to offer a matched line of breakers, designed to work with our own excavator line, and backed by the full Komatsu support network across New Zealand, Australia and New Caledonia.”
He proceeded to offer details about the breakers’ unique advantages:
“Our design engineers understand that percussion efficiency is the key – not heavier breaker weight, which simply results in increased carrier fuel consumption. Our variable speed breaker design provides greater hydraulic efficiency, further enhanced with our energy recovery and regulation systems. Komatsu breakers offer the industry’s highest percussion efficiency, with their lower input power requirements resulting in better fuel efficiency.”
“As well,” he continued, “all Komatsu breakers incorporate a back pressure-tolerant design, blank firing protection, over-flow protection and a fully enclosed nitrogen filled accumulator.”
Adding to the breakers’ versatility are a number of different tools, including chisel, moil point, pyramid and blunt tool.
