UK Contractor Purchases JCB Demolition Excavator

ART Demolition, a contractor based in the United Kingdom, recently announced the purchase of one of the first demolition-specific JCB X Series excavators, the 220X.

Headquartered in Lincoln in the north of England, ART Demolition bought the new JCB excavator model from TC Harrison, a verified JCB dealer. The machine will be used in a variety of dismantling projects.

The JCB 220X is designed specifically to handle the challenges posed by harsh demolition conditions, featuring enhanced cab protection and heavy undercarriage guards.

“We know just how much detail has gone into this machine so we knew it was destined to be special,” ART Demolition managing director Adam Thurlby said. “The finished version does not disappoint. I am a big fan of the existing JS models but this has been thoroughly overhauled and taken to the next level.”

The 220X is the latest addition to ART Demolition’s considerable fleet of JCB excavators, which includes the compact 86C-1, a JS330, three JS220 models and two flagship JS370 machines, the latter weighing in at 42 tonnes owing to various heavy-duty modifications.

“We are mainly using the new JCB on secondary demolition applications and it is performing well with a range of attachments including a concrete pulverizer,” machine operator Chris Bills explained. “I’ve already put the machine through its paces and I’m impressed. The cab layout is fantastic, the level of technology is incredibly sophisticated and I could not believe just how quiet the 220X is.”

Founded in 1945, JCB manufactures equipment for construction, agriculture, demolition and waste management purposes. It has 22 manufacturing facilities worldwide and produces over 300 types of machines. It is based in Rocester, Staffordshire, England.
